Alley
Cat Allies. Alley Cat Allies, is a national
nonprofit clearinghouse for information on feral and stray cats.
For more than a decade Alley Cat Allies has advocated
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) - the most humane and effective method
to reduce feral cat populations. Alley Cat Allies is dedicated
to promoting and advocating for nonlethal methods to control and
reduce cat populations.
Animal
Welfare Federation of Connecticut (AWFCT). The
Animal Welfare Federation of Connecticut (AWFCT) is a
partnership of animal welfare advocates dedicated to improving
the status and well-being of companion animals in Connecticut
with a primary focus on spay/neuter efforts.
Best
Friends. A 3000-acre sanctuary in Utah. It houses
all types of animals and has a section called "Dogtown" with
over 650 dogs! Visitors are welcome daily to tour and volunteer.
Border Collie Rescue. Border
collies can make wonderful pets for families who understand
their intense personalities and high energy levels. Visit the
website of this breed rescue organization to learn more about
the breed and see pictures of dogs available for adoption.
The Collie
Rescue League of New England. This is a
non-profit volunteer organization serving all of New England.
The League provides rescue, placement and problem intervention
service for all purebred rough and smooth Collies of both sexes
and any age.
Dogs Deserve Better. This is a non-profit
dedicated to freeing the chained dog and bringing our "best
friend" into the family and home.
Feral
Cat Coalition. The FCC is an organization that
traps and spays/neuters feral cats, then returns them to their
caretakers. This site contains links to information on feral cat
issues.
The House
Rabbit Society. House Rabbit Society is an
all-volunteer, non-profit organization that rescues rabbits and
educates the public on rabbit care. Visit their wonderful site
to find out everything you needed to know about caring for
bunnies. They also have online adoption listings with
photographs.
The Humane
Society of the United States. This national
organization does not operate shelters or adopt out animals, but
on this site you can find information about many animal welfare
issues.
Pet
Finder. This site lists thousands of pets for
adoption at U.S. shelters and rescue organizations. Search by
pet type, breed, age, size, gender and location. The Library
contains articles on pet care, behavior, training, breed info,
and shelter operations. There is a directory of shelters
searchable by location and a place to post free classified ads
for lost, found, wanted or adoptable pets.
Pit Bulls On the Web. This site is a resource
for owners and caretakers of American Pit Bull Terriers,
American Staffordshire Terriers and pit bull mixes. It provide
information and assistance to people who help Pit Bulls through
a nationwide (USA & Canada) virtual shelter for homeless Pit
Bulls for adoption. It also aims to present a positive image of
the breed, combat negative press, fight unfair legislation, to
educate and promote responsible Pit Bull ownership.
Retired
Greyhounds as Pets of Connecticut. REGAPCT is a
non-profit organization devoted to educating the public about
the joys of greyhounds as companion animals and finding
responsible, caring homes for as many retired racing greyhounds
as possible.
Save A
Sato. The Save A Sato Foundation is a non-profit
organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for
homeless and abused animals on the island of Puerto Rico. DAWS
helps this foundation by finding homes for their animals here in
CT.
Second Chance Bird Rescue.
Located in Rochester, NY, the primary goal of this organization
is to temporarily re-home unwanted or abused parrots while they
care for their needs, establish a trusting relationship between
human and bird, and identify a loving forever home.
Texas Humane Legislation
Network The voice at the Texas Legislature for
untold numbers of animals throughout Texas who suffer horrific
abuse and tragic neglect at the hands of callous humans.
Yankee Chihuahua Rescue and Adoption.
Serving New England, YRCAA is a network of volunteers who
rehabilitate and place Chihuahuas and Chihuahua-mixed dogs in
new homes.
